Stumbling in and out of Adventure

I have played with the concept of writing a blog for years and could not come up with a clear concept until recently. I admit to being nerdy and doing a little research before jumping on deck, but I didn’t follow the tips I so readily devoured. I wasn’t ready with multiple backup posts and dove off the diving board before I had completed my starting game plan. My splash into blogging was more like a sloppy cannonball than a graceful swan dive. I quickly become overwhelmed by the work and the impending doom of failure.

Then the worse happened.

I missed a day. If I had followed my game plan I would have had a backup post to throw up, no big deal. Unfortunately, that was not the situation. My day became busier and busier and I decided to take a week off to recuperate and prepare some posts. Instead, I avoided wordpress like the plague. I was doing so well writing and creating a community that I couldn’t believe I let myself down. I kept telling myself its just a blog, who cares? I did. I was writing, being creative, getting know people, and learned a lot.

I may have gotten a flat tire, but there is a brand new one now.

I did have time to think about the niche that I want my blog to fit into and it is definitely personal. I want to share my journeys with the world and document them for myself. I truly enjoy writing and hope to hone a skill through Boldwandering. I will touch on travel, food, and life with an over-excited border collie who lives under my couch, but most importantly I hope to have you step in my shoes. I am warning you now I have a lot of them.

My favorite poem growing up was The Road Not Taken by Robert Frost and I still hope that my road is the one less traveled by.

Its All About the Journey

Three Blogs I Enjoy Wandering

I often find myself wandering the blogosphere for new destinations, inspiration, recipes, and everything in between.

First up the fabulous ReFashionista. The first day I found her blog, I was so interested that I read every post. She inspires me to rethink rejected items and give them a chance. A description in her own words:

In a nutshell:

*Yay!  I’m helping keep clothing out of the landfill!

*Yay!  I’m helping women in need!

*Yay!  I’m using my creativity to do something more than a little nutty!

Next one of my favorite travelistas, Lesley Carter at Indulge. Every post is a new adventure and I can’t help being blown away by her courage and spirit. A little bit of indulgence:

Top 10 Favorite Cities Visited With 33 countries under my belt, I’ve experienced some of the most amazing cities that the world has to offer. From great beaches, climate, friendly people, personal interests, world-famous attractions, architecture, history, and culture, there are … Continue reading →

Last, but definitely not least  I submit for your eating pleasure The Spamwise Chronicles. Below you will find one of his many photos, that make me what to jump right into the screen and dig in.

In the dead of winter, sometimes you need to be a little creative, particularly when there’s a dearth of greenery. It’s these kinds of moments where you have a limited ingredient palette that I find the most challenging and the most rewarding.

The three blogs I mentioned today are not my top three, but just a few of the many amazing writers I have discovered over the last few weeks.

I am still forming my ideas of what this blog should be and what I want to present and discuss. As readership picks up, I have realized that 3 posts a week will probably not keep people coming back consistently. I would like to put feelers out for contributors. Thursday will become share day. If you are interested please submit via email: I am looking for posts in adventure.

Cartoons and Dip

Recently, I thought my life had become one of Peas and Cougars cartoons. The husb and I were prepping food for our commercial watching party and I thought his dip would be a great subject. Little did I know that he would create something even better.

As soon as I asked to take step by step pictures he posted up. Husb does not want to be character in my blog and would not willingly pose for pictures. Side note: I only wanted pictures of the food. I found his dismay really funny and he found my enjoyment to me more like Spousal “Abuse”. I got my pictures and a story too, sorry Husb the more you protest the more I want to do it.

On to the dip! While in college Husb learned a great, fattening recipe from a college friend. Stoner Dip. He makes it for most parties and even though it looks pretty gross, we never have leftovers.

  • cream cheese
  • chili, we prefer no beans
  • shredded cheese, mixed is best
cream cheese, chili, shredded cheese
For some reason he was adamant about hiding the labels.

We usually split the ingredients in two smaller baking dishes. That way it does have a chance to get cold and it is always fun to pop out a new hot dish when the first one is empty

Cream Cheese
Step 1: Spread the cream cheese on the bottom of the dish.
add the chili
Step 2: Add the chili and spread it out on top of the cream cheese
Sprinkle the cheese
Step 3: Cover with Shredded Cheese

Next, you pop this baby in oven at 350* for 15 minutes or until the cheese is melted.

Once you take the dip out of the oven remember it will be piping hot so dig in with caution.

I apologize for the lack of after photos, but we were so excited to eat it, I completely forgot.
